Does a revocable trust avoid probate?
A revocable trust may help certain assets avoid probate, but only if those assets are actually transferred into the trust or properly aligned with it.
Simply signing the trust document is not enough if the relevant assets are never funded into the trust. If an account or piece of property remains in your individual name, it may still need to be handled through probate. This is why both the trust document and the way assets are titled matter.
Trusts are typically established with the help of a legal professional. Quorum does not provide legal or tax advice. We recommend consulting with your attorney or other professional to determine what’s appropriate for your situation. You need to review a strategy for your own particular circumstances that takes into account the applicable laws in your state before making any decisions.
